SERVICES

JUST SOME OF THE MANY SERVICES OFFERED THROUGH OUR AGENCY
REFERRALS:
If we are not able to provide the proper service, we will help the client try to find the right agency that can.

RENTAL and UTILITY ASSISTANCE:
Rental or utility payments for individuals or families who are at risk of losing their utility service, or are about to be evicted from their home.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE:
Shelter, bus ticket, and gasoline to individuals or families in need who are traveling through town.

FOOD PANTRY:
Emergency Food for those in need. Available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Families are allowed to get food pantry once every thirty days.

FOOD COMMODITIES:
USDA Food Commodity Program; Supplies food commodities to Mineral County, and parts of Northern Nye County.

ASSISTANCE FILING FORMS:
The staff at CAHS will help any client fill out and file any documents.

EAP:
Energy Assistance Program: CAHS provides forms and assistance to help obtain utility assistance from this program.

SAFE:
CAHS administers this program for NV Energy. The program gives limited assistance to qualifying electric customers.

WIC:
CAHS administers this program for the Nevada State Health Division. It is a Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children.


ANGEL TREE PROGRAM FOR MINERAL COUNTY CHILDREN:
Provides a Christmas gift to low-income children who otherwise may not have a gift for Christmas.

(The above Services available to low income families in Mineral County)

BABY EQUIPMENT LOAN PROGRAM:
Program offers equipment to parents that cannot afford to purchase the items.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS:
FRC collaborates with agencies on activities and events in the community as an outreach program.

FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAMS:
An avenue for encouraging, empowering and enabling families to solve problems and achieve goals and to provide a safe and positive environment.

INFANT AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT CLASSES:
Program is to help with the development skills in the many stages of the infant’s life and to encourage parents to use creativity to stimulate curiosity and imagination of the child.

INFANT AND CHILD HEALTH CLASSES:
Program helps introduce dental care, practice nutritious eating habits, encourage child to get enough physical activity and addresses other health care issues as needed.

INFANT AND CHILD SAFETY CLASSES:
Offers education in child proofing the home, including safety materials such as safety plugs, cabinet locks.

CHILDREN'S CLOTHING EXCHANGE:
Provides clothing to infants and children from birth to 5 years of age.

DIAPER, FORMULA, BABY AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES:
Provided by donations, for those families in need, as a supplement only.

RESOURCE LENDING LIBRARY:
Materials are available to any clients on a lending basis. Materials include books, DVDs, etc.

PARENTING CLASSES:
Classes designed to help provide and enhance parenting skills, to teach the parent to stay involved, discipline the child fairly and to focus on the behavior and to think positive by expecting the best from their child.

CASE MANAGEMENT:
Working with families and individuals to devise a comprehensive plan to improve and develop life-skills, also includes goal setting, and home visits.

YOUTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS:
Self-Esteem: Provides the tools necessary to deal with external and internal pressures, resolve conflicts, solve problems and build self-confidence.
Anger Management: Provides the knowledge and life-skills to help manage anger, encourage stress reducers techniques necessary to combat and control anger.

PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS:
Collaborations with Agencies such as: Adoption Alliance, Foster and Respite Care, Mineral County Bullying Prevention Committee, Miracle Flight f/Kids, Substance Abuse; Mental Health Services Admin., and Safe Haven to provide information for their services.


DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERVICES
National Crisis Call Center - 1-800-500-1556

Staff are available for "Crisis Call Out" Services in collaboration with the Mineral County Sheriffs Department in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault situations.

Assistance filing Temporary Restraining Orders provided in Domestic Violence situations as needed.

Shelter provided to those determined to need a safe and stable living environment until the person/ family is no longer in danger.

Peer Counseling and Professional Counseling is available for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Victims.
