The Listening Project
The
CAHS Office has started to work with a program called the Listening
Project. This is a program that works with Domestic Violence survivors
and lets them tell their stories. We will be working with 5 other
Domestic Violence agencies across the state. The goal of the Listening
Project is to hear the voices of 100 rural survivors of Domestic
Violence. These survivors will be invited to share their
successes, challenges, and the many lessons they have learned as they
move toward safety. Their stories will be collected in a safe,
confidential environment with experienced advocates. If you would like
to be a part of this project please contact the CAHS Office at 945-2471

Domestic Violence Awareness Month
We would like to thank Judy Henderson and Jill Peterson from the Nevada Network Against Domestic Violence (NNADV) for such an informative training yesterday. Part of the training included an exercise called "In Her Shoes". We were given the ability to walk through the true life stories of women that have experienced abuse. Each of the bandaids we are wearing represent an event of abuse in their lives. Domestic Violence truly can happen to anyone. If you would like information on Domestic Violence Training or Resources please call the CAHS Office at
775-945-2471 or you can go to the NNADV website at www.nnadv.org.

The New CAHS Sign
You might
remember that we used to have a sign on top of our building. This sign
was provided by a generous donation. Unfortunately the wind had other
ideas, and we had to remove it before it fell down and came through our
front window.
It has taken us quite some time to come up with enough donations to have the sign remounted.
Thanks to the hard work of G-Dubs Construction, and Sign City we finally have a new outdoor sign.
