Angel Tree/Toys for Tots Applications Now Available

Christmas Angel Tree/Toys for Tots Applications Available 
Now at CAHS
It is that time of year again; Christmas is just around the corner. CAHS is continuing to sponsor this years annual Mineral County Christmas Angel Tree Program, in conjunction with Toys for Tots, with Tamara Bunch.
We would like to invite the parents/guardians of “Needy-Low Income Children” to come in to pick up an application form for your children to receive a gift for Christmas. The income guidelines will be posted, and an application will need to be filled out for each child in the family. Proof of income will also be required with the application.
Applications are available to be picked up at the CAHS building located at 924 5th St. They have to be filled out and returned to the CAHS office by Tuesday, November 17th, to get your child’s angel on the tree to be adopted. If you have any questions please contact CAHS at 945-2471.

CAHS Coat Drive

It’s getting cold out and it’s time for CAHS to begin our Annual Coat Drive. Starting Tuesday, November 3rd, we will be accepting donations of new or gently used coats for all ages. If you are in need of a coat please come by the CAHS office. We are located @924 5th Street, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. You can also contact us @945-2471.

Shine a Light on Domestic Violence Awareness

At the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness month we asked local businesses to support the cause by putting purple lights up. We have had such an amazing amount of support from our community. As you drive through town you can see that we are truly "Shining a Light on Domestic Violence Awareness". We don't have all the businesses pictured below that are supporting this cause, but we will continue to post them as we get them.

Light Up the Night for DV Awareness on October 16th

Please join us to "Light Up the Night for Domestic Violence Awareness", on October 16th, @7pm at Veterans Park. We would like to invite all of you to join us at the park to release purple lanterns in the air; in remembrance of those who have lost their lives to it, to celebrate the survivors, and pay tribute to those who work to end the violence in Mineral County.

Breast Cancer Awareness. Early Detection is Key!

Breast Cancer Signs and Symptoms

Breast cancer signs and symptoms are different for all women. In fact, some women show no signs at all. The most common sign of breast cancer is a lump or mass. Anything unusual should be evaluated by a doctor immediately.  Other signs and symptoms include:
–       Swelling in part of the breast
–       Skin irritation or dimpling
–       Nipple pain or the nipple turning inward
–       Redness or scaliness of the nipple or breast skin
–       A nipple discharge that is not breast milk
–       A lump in the underarm

Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast Cancer Screening
Regular screening improves the chance that breast cancer can be found and treated successfully at an early age.
Mammograms: women age 40 and older should have mammograms ever year
Clinical Breast Exams: women in their 20s and 30s should have a clinical breast exam every 3 years, and women over the age of 40 should have the exam every year
Self Exams: women should begin to administer breast
self-exams in their 20s
