The Backpack Buddies Program

We have started distributing The Backpack Buddies food at MCES on Thursdays for preschool and Fridays for K-6. Please read the information below and share. Thank you!

More than 21 million children qualify for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Program. For many of these children, school meals may be the only meals they eat. What happens when they go home over the weekend?

Backpack Buddies provides low-income children with backpacks every Thursday or Friday during the school year packed with food to help them through the weekend. Children can take the backpack food home and leave the food in the bags until needed. The food is all nonperishable and doesn't have to go into the refrigerator.
This is a program specifically for low-income or food insecure children. If your child does not fit in this criteria please allow the children that do to take the backpack food home.Thank you!
