We would like to thank everyone that adopted Angels for the 2018 CAHS Angel Tree. We delivered gifts to 101 Angels this year. Thank you to our volunteers and community members. We appreciate your continued support! 

Coat Drive

As you may know over the years CAHS has provided new coats to the children of Mineral County. We are currently in need of new coats for our Annual Coat Drive. Our inventory is seriously depleted. We usually give out 50+ new and gently used coats every year. We appreciate all sizes but our priority is children's coats 12 months-Youth. You can bring in all donations to CAHS located @924 5th street. We are open Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. Thank you all for your continued support!

Angel Tree and Toys for Tots Applications Available

It’s that time of year again! CAHS is continuing to sponsor the annual Hawthorne Angel Tree Program, in conjunction with Toys for Tots, with Tamara Bunch.
If you are the parent or guardian of “Needy-Low Income Children” and are in need of a Christmas present for your child/children, we invite you to come in and fill out an application. Proof of income will also be required with the application. The income guidelines will be posted.
Applications are available @CAHS November 5th through November 16th. All applications need to be filled out and returned to CAHS NO LATER than FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16th because the Angels will be placed on the trees for adoption on Tuesday, November 20th. CAHS is located @924 5th Street. If you have any questions please contact CAHS at 945-2471.

Toddler Play on Fridays!

CAHS would like to invite you to join us for Toddler Play on Fridays from 10:30-11:30am, for families with children 0-5 years old. We will have age appropriate activities, story-time, crafts, sing-a-longs, and snacks! CAHS is located at 924 5th street. Back to School Supply Drive and Sign-Ups

THE CAHS ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL-SUPPLY DRIVE

and SCHOOL SUPPLY SIGN-UPS

With the 2018/2019 school year quickly approaching, the CAHS office is gearing up for our annual Back to School Supply Drive!  We are now accepting donations of: backpacks(preferably LARGE), mid-size scissors(for 8-17 year olds), liquid glue & glue sticks, 3 ring binders(1”,1 ½” and 2”), loose leaf paper(college and wide ruled), black, blue, and red pens, #2 pencils, mechanical pencils, colored pencils, big pink erasers, washable markers(thin and thick), folders with 3 prong inserts, composition notebooks, pencil boxes, highlighters, dry erase markers, and sharpies.

The CAHS office would like to ensure that every child in our community is equipped for success.  We are planning on distributing the school supplies to the students no later than August 17th so, we would greatly appreciate any donations dropped off to our office prior to August 10^th. We are open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Thank you so much for your continued support!

CAHS will be accepting sign-ups for our Back to School Supply Program for the upcoming 2018/2019 school year beginning July 16^th through August 10th.  This program is for low income families. If you are the primary caretaker of the child/children, you may sign your child/children up for school supplies.  Please bring in your proof of income; including food stamp verification into our office, located at 924 5^th St. If you have any questions, please contact CAHS at 775-945-2471.

The Pinwheel is the symbol of hope, safety, health and most importantly...happiness. It symbolizes our efforts to change the way our community thinks about child abuse prevention. We planted #PinwheelsforPrevention throughout our community to remind all of us of this. Thank you to all of our community members for the continued support!

2018 Annual Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Event

Our 2018 Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Event was a success! We had over 100 people attend!
Thank you Party Patrol -Tyler Viani for providing our music!!!

Thank you Ron Wood Family Resource Center for coming down from Carson and providing our community with low-cost/free car seats, and checking to make sure they were installed correctly! There were over 25 car seats checked and installed at our event.

Thank you to the Hawthorne Fire Department and the cadettes for providing tours of the fire truck and ambulance and entertaining us!

Thank you Nevada Families First- Sarah Dillard and Brenda Anderson, Mike James, Jim Kenner and Breanna Hatfield for coming and sharing important information with our community!

Thank you Ivy Ward- Ivy Land for doing an amazing job face-painting!!

Thank you Port of Subs for providing gift certificates for prizes!!
